Is quake champions dead

Another gripe I have is many of the arenas are also too small for the eight player matches.

The rocket launcher in particular doesn't have that 'oomph' it once did and it doesn't feel like it does the damage it used to. They all feel homogenized, like it almost doesn't matter what I'm using. The funny thing about that is that on the flip side, all the weapons feel like they've been made to be too balanced. The different character abilities and character stats makes for somewhat unbalanced gameplay. It's not particularly polished but is a ton of fun, I do recommend checking it out.īack to Quake Champions, I generally prefer traditional deathmatch and I find it the weakest of the Quakes in that area (pretending like Quake IV doesn't exist). Much less downtime between rounds means I've been playing it more recently. It turns out there's still a pretty active community and I have been able to find games quickly and easily. I got fed up with the wait times the other week and downloaded Epic's Unreal Tournament alpha just for grins. Sometimes I'm waiting two minutes between matches, but then immediately after I'll wait 10. There is no server browser/list, you're at the mercy of the matchmaking system. The biggest issue is the long wait times between matches for traditional deathmatch play.
